The Tufts Jumbos defeated the WPI Engineers 67-58 on Tuesday evening in a non-conference matchup of nationally-ranked and unbeaten men's basketball teams.
The Jumbos, ranked 23rd in the most recent D3hoops.com Top 25, improved to 6-0 on the season. WPI, which is 12th in the same poll, slipped to 6-1 on the season.
Tufts led a majority of the opening 30 minutes of the game but saw WPI close to within a point at 45-44 on Nathan Bledsoe's (San Antonio, TX) third 3-pointer of the second half with 9:30 remaining.
The Jumbos used a 16-4 run to seal the victory. Scott Gyimesi (Fair Haven, NJ) led Tufts with a game-high 20 points and 12 rebounds. Joshua Bernstein (Miami, FL) also had a double-double with 12 points and eight rebounds.
Bledsoe led WPI with 12 points, all from 3-point range. Donovan Sevilla (San Ramon, CA) added 10 points and Justin Molen (Newark, DE) had nine points and two blocks.
The Jumbos held WPI to its worst shooting of the season, as the Engineers shot just 34.5% from the floor. Tufts also out-rebounded WPI 48-35.
